Jesse dies for a living, literally. As a Necronite, she is one of the population's rare 2% who can serve as a death replacement agent, dying so others don't have to. Although each death is different, the result is the same: a life is saved, and Jesse resurrects days later with sore muscles, new scars, and another hole in her memory.

But when Jesse is murdered and becomes the sole suspect in a federal investigation, more than her freedom and sanity are at stake. She must catch the killer herself- or die trying.

Stories from the classroom! How do they survive? Whether student, teacher or parent they will have you laughing or crying! Waterloo Road or Grange Hill meet Gervase Phinn - well maybe! With over twenty years teaching experience behind him, GJ Griffiths has brought to the reader some of the stories about the children he taught, in this amusing and often poignant book. All through the book we are made aware of the joys and disappointments experience by their teachers, Mr. Jeffrey and his colleagues. With the ever-present controversy about changing the education system (again!) this is a timely-illustration of what is to be found in the classroom of the contemporary High School.

NOVELS

Jason Christakos is a Greek god, but more than that he's beautiful inside, someone who loves so fiercely and selflessly without expecting anything in return.

Jason is the man who saved me from self-destruction, the man who knows all my secrets, and now the man whose broken heart I ache to heal.

Jason does not see me as a woman, does not believe I can truly love him, and does not think he is capable of loving any other woman that the one he lost to his brother.

In an all-out bid to win his love, I accept Jason's challenge. For him to give me a chance to own his heart, he demands that I do everything he wants, and what he wants is for me to realize that someone out there is better for me.

Too late I realize that Jason also thinks someone out there is better for him- but it's not me... and it might never be me.

I'm so stoked to read Marian Tee's Jason and Keanne, I just one-clicked it. :P I'm a pretty cheap flip but I'd buy her books XD Annnnd now I've lost like, five hours that were scheduled for laundry and studying (damn I really thought I was a faster typer than that). Sigh. I seriously need to work on my time management and like, not fail out of college. T.T

If only there were more hours in the day...
Happy Reading!

(W)REC(K) A BOOK: The Art of Loving a Greek Billionaire

Once upon a time, there was an ordinary girl who grew up listening to bedtime stories where there were no knights in shining armor or Prince Charming. Instead, it had Greek billionaires and this little girl dreamt she'd one day have Her Own Greek Billionaire to live happily ever after with.

When this little girl grew up, she found what she was looking for. He loved her, too, but the whole world did not approve.

This is my story.
I mean your story.
I mean, Mairi Tanner's story.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

OH MY GOD?! Marian how could you end it like that????

cry GIF photo: Cry out loud cry.gif

This one was the most intense. Mairi and Damen finally have their happily-ever-after, now that Damen's come to realize that he really loves her and doesn't think that she's some gold-digger, but the world is not happy, and they are out for blood.

True to their competitor's word, Mairi can't find any school to take her; she's been blacklisted. But most of all, she can't let anyone know what's been happening because if the world found out that she couldn't get a job, it'd be an embarrassment. And God knows Mairi would kill before letting Damen know (okay maybe not commit murder, but it's still very serious). However, Ms. Yay- as she was known at her last job -doesn't lie well, and it puts Damen on edge. Just what is his lover hiding?

That question plays on a lot of insecurities that he thought he'd ridden himself of, when he broke off his engagement to his competitor's daughter and proclaimed his love for Mairi within the same minute. But he brushes it off almost immediately, knowing that he cannot go down that dark path again if he wishes to keep her. However, incidents on poor Mairi's end keep popping up, and it only darkens his worry more until one day, he gets a two-thousand bill spent at a spa. From Mairi. And she keeps brushing off his small-worded concerns with light smiles and assurances that she's just fine and living the life of a billionaire's girlfriend, the life that he had always recommended she take but always felt reassured of her non gold-digger membership when she didn't.

killer GIF photo: Time Killer 656.gifIt isn't Mairi's fault, though. One of her interviews at a school ended in disaster when the disgusting staff member unzipped his pants and tried to make the moves on her in hopes of blackmail and 'getting her under his command'. Like, EW, talk about creepy.

I really wish she'd told Damen, then. I'd have been more than happy to see that little weasel-dick straining in his ropes as he sinks to the bottom of the ocean! GRR--- *breathes* So that's why Damen got a two-thousand dollar bill, because she felt dirty and disgusting and tried to feel clean again. But she keeps it secret because she doesn't want him to kill the guy. And I'm so sad because it's here, when she starts acting weird (she's a really bad liar) that Damen starts having his insecurities come back. And. That's. Not. COOL!

Communication is KEY people! And hiding things from your significant other is never a good idea. Never ever ever ever!!! Why? Because if you keep secrets, your guy will think you're cheating on him and using his money as the gold-digger he always thought you were, and then the next thing you know, he'll be colder and meaner to you until one day he mistakes a meeting with another guy as a date and calls you a GOLD-DIGGING BITCH WHO JUMPS BILLIONAIRES AFTER SHE DRAINS THEM!!!!!

stare GIF photo: gif-2.gif

The point is, secrets kept in the hopes of saving your loved one from pain only gives them MORE pain. But you know what?! I'm sick of DAMEN!!!! I was so pissed at him when I got to the ending. He mistook a dinner between friends (well, 'friends' to Mairi) for her cheating on him with another billionaire, and after an old high school nemesis (where the hell did this bitch come from???) gives him a printed out blog of Mairi's old diary with plans on getting her Greek Billionaire, he lets his insecurities fuse with his darkest fear and has them jump to the conclusion that because his business is being attacked by their competitor, she's abandoning ship and trying to snag another billionaire. I- what?

*He thinks that because his stocks are going down, he thinks she thinks he's getting poorer, and therefore needs to go get another billionaire who isn't going broke.*

And this dude is nothing but PRIDEFUL- guy's Greek and rich! -so that one assumption pushes him off the deep end and he waits until she's sleeping and comfortable before he tells his housekeepers to throw her out. Just like that! And then when she refuses to leave until he himself says so, he pops up from one of the rooms and yells at her right there! He calls her a gold-digging bitch, a liar and sore mistake for having chosen her over a "real lady like Alina"-aaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

That's it, I'm done with him. I hate him and his insecurities! You motherfucker!!! *breathes* Mairi is so shattered by this that she can't do anything but cry, even after he tells her that if she doesn't get off his property, he'll have her arrested for trespassing. And she does get arrested, numb and a complete mess. For her one phone call, the only person she can think of is Stavros, the guy she'd had dinner with, and he bails her out, utterly at a loss for a broken Mairi. He told Damen he'd kill him if he ever hurt Mairi, but the most he'll have to settle for is a good hunt down and a punch. A punch, I may add, that is both satisfying and applause-worthy, but of course it turns into a huge fight and they get arrested. Damen is disgusted but Stavros gets it through his thick skull that nothing happened. It's the beginning of dread for Damen at this point, and when he realizes- YET AGAIN -that he's fucked up, he-

Okay I don't really care about him right now, but he knows he's got a shitload of groveling to do and will have to PLEAD to the gods that her aunts even THINK about MAYBE letting him see dear Mairi again, cause if the aunts don't want you to know where she is...

I'm so mad at Damen but at the same time I just can't completely hate him for his insecurities. Like, seriously, I want to, but can't. The struggle is real. It was an amazing read for me, as always with Tee's work, and her Greek billionaires make me consider converting from my usual hunks of Highlanders... maybe. lol. If you've never heard of Marian Tee before, she's a great writer from the Philippines who writes innocently naive heroines with hearts light and persistent enough to chase away the darkness in her troubled and illegally sexy heroes. This author is on a roll and should be looked out for. Like all her books, I recommend this to those who love alpha males and sweet girls, but I suggest you read this from the beginning and start with The Art of Catching a Greek Billionaire.

Happy Reading :)

(W)REC(K) A BOOK: Dagger Heart

"Erica was a good girl -most of the time- and didn't step on anyone's toes -for the most part. But sometimes a girl like her just couldn't help getting into trouble."
- Norway, 704 A.D.

The valiant King Ulfur defeated the evil that swept the seaside village of Nornor into despair; Morgan, the demon witch, has been dead for nearly twenty years. The truce between King Ulfur and the Queen of the Fae has remained intact since the day that Morgan's dark curses vanished. It seemed that peace had finally come to the wounded souls of the village.

But this peace is shaken when three curses that Morgan promised with her dying breath are placed upon the Norwegian village: who among them has cast the spell?

Seventeen-year-old Erica finds herself trapped in the middle of a witch's deadly revenge scheme with no way out but to fight for survival. On top of trying to end the curses devouring her village like a savage beast she finds herself at the center of attention when it comes to Viking King Ulfur's three sons: Kriger, Paul, and Finn.

Three of them will fight alongside her.
Two of them want to marry her.
One of them could be the son of King Ulfur... and Morgan.
- Goodreads

This was a pretty good read because it has my favorite things like royalty, medieval villages, witches and other magical creatures. And I'll admit, I was looking forward to three guys chasing after her. XD However, it could've better because the flow of the story didn't work for me. Yes, I might be a little disappointed that it was more of a 'one love' kind of thing, but that's not the point. The flow of it all came off as one of those, "Yes, do this. Now that. And because that happened, this will now happen, and you will act like this-" You know what I'm talking about? The beginning had a fine hook that lures its readers in without a problem. Erica is a young orphan girl in the forest all alone acting as a lone wolf, when she comes across a young boy; Finn, the prince and son of King Ulfur. They find a kinship in each other that day, and it's then that their wolf pack of two is forever formed and bound.

Years pass, and they're young adults. She's developed feelings for him, but he's made no move to tell her of his own feelings regarding the fiery-haired orphan that no one wants. And no one wants her. They call her a monster and cursed thing for having red hair like the witch that tormented them years ago. She's out-casted for such discrimination, but with Finn always waiting for her out in the forest, it never really mattered to her.

Then Paul, Finn's older brother, comes by and asks her out on a date to this thing that the village has, a day to celebrate the burning of the evil witch Morgan. At first she refuses because she loves Finn, but when he acts like an ass and her caretaker talks to her about 'wanting better for her', she decides to fuck it all and go with him. However, she sees Finn there too, dancing with another girl, and it takes a ridiculous amount of making the other jealous to have her feel embarrassed and run off to hide. That doesn't help, because Finn and the girl barge in unaware of her, making out like there's no tomorrow. I knew that he wasn't really into her, but Erica didn't know that, and he left with the girl before she could see anything else, though she assumed that they'd left to go find a more comfortable place, when in reality he was just trying to get away from the girl.

Zombies attack the village and she gets blamed (always blamed!) for it, but it's Paul who comes to her rescue, not Finn. I mean, it's not really a rescue because he tells her, "Marry me and I can get you out of your prison," but Finn does nothing. Maybe he tried, but he didn't try hard enough. He's supposed to love her, but it's his brother who comes to really defend her? Not cool, Finn.
*shakes finger*

So now there's a triangle, but it never really was that solid, because we all know she belongs with Finn, and Paul's pretty understanding about the whole thing. The plot about the witch and one of the princes being her son was pretty cool, but the "Big Reveal" on who was Morgan's son sorta fell flat for me. When Paul reveals himself, it wasn't very convincing. XD I can't explain it, it just lacked that finesse. So now everyone knows Paul's the bad guy, and he curses Finn to turn into a wolf. But then we later find out that Finn isn't really the king's son, but a fae's child that Erica's ("evil") caretaker stole and replaced. That came out of nowhere. I know it was a way to allow Erica and Finn to be together because it's also revealed that Erica is the real child of the king, but it was still weird- like, have a better explanation for stealing a fae's child in the first place, you know? But anyway... Erica visits the fae and finds out that the only way all of this can end is if the children of the king die. It'll reverse all curses (though maybe not Finn's, because Paul had poor control) so Erica sets out to kill and be killed.

She kills Paul and sends Morgan back to wherever it was she came from after she gets a newly turned human Finn to stab her, but she wakes up later and understands that the fae's food and drink offered to her from her visit had healed her. Finn is still cursed, but is allowed to be human on the Summer and Winter Solstices, since all magic is practically canceled out on those days. It ends with her leaving him for a moment to see her people- people who have named her their new queen -and comes back to her room only to find a note from him, saying he didn't want her last image of him to be spoiled by the curse. She's not mad, as she understands that "it is what it is", and uses her new role as queen to help distract her.

Months later, she and Finn meet up, and the wilderness has changed the boy she once loved, having made him more mature and sharp with a certain wildness in him that wasn't there before. She goes to him as he offers her the wolf skin that had cursed him, and she dons it, before taking his hand and running into the forest with him.

*****
This just made my heart SO SAD because she can't be with him all the time, only two freaking days of the year! There's so many things that could go wrong- he might fuck a wolf and have cubs, she might fall in love with someone else- there's too many things that could happen to ruin the HEA. But at the same time, I'm completely, irrevocably in LOVE with the way the author ended the story. It's so perfect, tragically beautiful and amazing- I just- !!!! There's something about the depressing love story that resonates with me. I can't put my finger on it, but I just know that it's amazing and will forever stick with me. I can't tell if I'm in awe or if it's just permanently scarred me enough so I'll never forget. I'm still working that out.

I recommended it to a friend who's all for YA and she liked it, though it did depress her, and I understand. The only graphic thing in here are the action scenes of zombies and fights. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty tame (as in there's nothing R-rated). It's a pretty good read. The only problem I have with it is the flow in the middle and near-ending, but other than that, I recommend. I got it for FREE on Amazon, and it might still be so if you go and look for yourself.

Happy Reading =^~^=
