Dude, this was the best one so far! Out of the entire series, I'd say this is my favorite (first book doesn't count cause that's a FOREVER FIRST thing, you know?) because the characters are engaging and feisty, the plot is simply terrifying- DEAD CHILDREN, PEOPLE! -and best of all.... plaaaaaants.

Literally what I think of every time. PARADISE.
Okay so I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to plant life and the varying vegetation, but I absolutely loved how she spoke with the flowers, feeding them her love and energy. She cared for them the way she couldn't do for herself after having lost her younger sister. Heartbreaking, and struggling, but still going strong, one day at a time.

Kevin was pretty funny with his feisty streak. Same goes for Alexis, though at some points, I was annoyed. Just a little, but annoyed all the same. If anything, I was grateful for Kevin's aggressiveness because the things Alexis did and said sometimes...

I try not to outright spoil so much, but I have to say it: I thought she was a complete idiot for implying that Kevin used his own gifts to persuade her into hooking up with him. Like WHAT THE FUCK GIRL? What an insult!!! That's the only time I ever wanted to slap a character so hard. I wasn't even sleeping with her and I felt insulted! So yeah, Kevin got mad. OH! And another thing. When he left without a goodbye, she got mad at that, even when she realized how unrealistic it was. I just... *sighs*

There was a lot of information on the type of 'psychic' stuff that went on for Alexis and Kevin's abilities, and I mean a lot. So much so that I found myself skipping some pages because I couldn't handle the anticipation. I'm usually good at not skipping, but when it came to those moments of intensity, the last thing I needed was an essay on what she should do to keep herself balanced. Like, seriously.

I loved Lissa in here because of how happy it made Alex, but at the same time, I loved that she was there to haunt Stefan for a certain duration. It just made me laugh so hard whenever she came to scare the poor guy. Very nice change of scenery for him, I'll bet. And... I couldn't help but ship them just a little. I mean, come on! How would you not think of something cute going on between them?

tangled eyebrow raise eye brow

The plot was terrifying because it deals with kidnappings and child molestation. It's NEVER detailed in here, but the implications of abuse and fear is heavy enough to make me shudder in disgust and... well, fright. It scared the shit out of me. At times I didn't like the way it was so detailed because it felt all the more real. It's a love/hate relationship lol.

This thing was elaborate, too! I couldn't decide on my bad guy because so many new things kept coming up. At times I'd guess, but on the other hand, it was like, "But really....?" So I'm glad the ending was such a twister; the climax left me satisfied and wanting more.

Alex, Kevin and Stefan were just great. Alex had a lot of problems with conquering her fear, but thankfully the guys were there to metaphorically slap her back into shape. It wasn't an issue so much as major frustration for me because I couldn't do anything, only sit back and watch her go through it all. Over and over again. And again. And again.

the doctor shocked brown eyes holy shit 10th doctor

Stefan's temporary bed rest was scary because he's such a strong guy, and if a psycho like this guy in here could put him in the hospital... o.o Kevin was great with his temper and sexiness and prowess (meow) but I have to say, the man who holds my heart is none other than Scott McIver: Irish bossman of Alexis' with a cheeky streak of forever youthful banter and teases. I love him so much.

I recommend this for those who also love cop and psychic romances with a great twist. The writing was perfect in the flow of thoughts that differed between Kevin, Alex, and any other character who took his time on the stage. The plot was really elaborate with the way things snuck up on you. I loved it all, and I think it's a book worth taking a chance on.

Storm Siren (Storm Siren Trilogy 1)

"I raise my chin at the buyers' stare. Yes. Look. You don't want me. Because, eventually, accidentally, I will destroy you."

In a world at war, a slave girl's lethal curse could become one kingdom's weapon of salvation. If the curse- and the girl -can be controlled.

As a slave in the war-weary kingdom of Faelen, seventeen-year-old Nym isn't merely devoid of rights, her Elemental kind are only born and always killed at birth - meaning, she shouldn't even exist.

Standing on the auction block beneath smoke-drenched mountains, Nym faces her fifteenth sell. But when her hood is removed and her storm-summoning killing curse revealed, Nym is snatched up by a court advisor and given a choice: be trained as the weapon Faelen needs to win the war, or be killed.

Choosing the former, Nym is unleashed into a world of politics, bizarre parties, and rumors of an evil more sinister than she's being prepared to fight... not to mention the handsome trainer whose dark secret lie behind a mysterious ability to calm every lightning strike she summons.

But what if she doesn't want to be the weapon they've all been waiting for?

Set in a beautifully eclectic world of suspicion, super abilities, and monsters, Storm Siren is a story of power. And whoever controls that power will win.

My bad, Khaleesi.

Now to the review.
Also, keep in mind that I like to rant from time to time.

This had a great story line that immediately caught my attention. Some even recommended it based on other books like Graceling. The settings had a certain taste of magic with people who wanted nothing to do with it or craved it for another war won. The friends and enemies collected along the way were just as interesting, engaging and inspiring either a particular love or a familiar sense of distaste. However, there were other, more important differences that set the other books apart from this.

For one thing, the heroines' personalities are different. The ones I've read from other series had terrible lives, but grew tough skin because of it. Nym had just as horrible a life- she was a slave for crying out loud -but unlike the others, she seemed to have more bark than bite.

I'm gonna be honest. Nym annoyed me to death because half the time I was frustrated with her situation. I was under the impression that Eogan had to control her and her powers because she was too wild or something, not because she was too scared to do anything with them. Graceling's Katsa was a deadly weapon with a lack of emotion in the beginning because of her training, but at least she DID something. Not once did I feel pissed or annoyed with her, which made me fall in love with her and the book all the quicker. With Nym in Storm Siren, it was a constant challenge that berated my experience with reading this for the first time.

nicki minaj angry frustrated bitch please

Let's clarify that despite my frustrations, I can appreciate diversity. Nymia was a scared child who didn't want to kill or hurt other people, so she turned that blade to her own skin, cutting herself in the form of tattoos whenever her emotions killed another person. I hate cutting, so the scenes were a little hard to bare even if she was making tattoos out of the pain. It also showed, however, just how sensitive of a person Nym was, and it explained a little more on why she would go the opposite of her default character. This girl's a sassy little thing so her meek demeanor is a far cry from the truth, which TBH was probably what annoyed me. But I get it, it just took a while to let it set in well after reading the last chapter.

reactions shrug meh shrugging

The book was amazing despite all the personal things I previously mentioned. It left me feeling bereft, shocked beyond compare, a little satisfied, and saddened. It was an adventure, and although I couldn't enjoy the wondrous kingdoms and lands because of Nym's struggles with her fears, I still got a lot of good things out of it. And okay, I'm repeating myself, but I have to say this. It's painfully obvious that Nym is a sarcastic smart mouth with attitude, and I love it, but her actions and thoughts contradict everything she says, which is what takes away from what I know would've been a mind-blowing experience. Everything else was amazing and dramatic and strategically planned! She was just very... idk, young. It's honesty the only excuse I can think of, other than me setting myself up for expecting a strong girl in the first book of the series.

Maybe that's what went wrong. I expected a strong girl and got mad when I only saw a little bit of it in the last 10% of the book.

On one hand, I can see why she's so meek and subservient: she's being cautious. I get the hesitation and mortification because she's all about not killing. I get it. But on the other hand, it irritates the fuck out of me. Why? Because she's being treated like shit. Her fourteenth owner is fucking nothing and yet she lets Lady Bitch hurt her and her friends to continue her bidding. Because she's a slave.

Justino angry mad frustrated frustration

First of all, it really pisses me off that she acts so helpless because I'm sure there are hundreds of other slaves just begging their gods for a piece of the power she has, just so they can escape the life they want no part in. If Nym could give a flying fuck what happens to her because she doesn't think she should live, then fine. It's just so frustrating that she has the key to her freedom right there but won't even think to open her eyes. Can you imagine? It's like seeing someone starve themselves as they cry because they won't lift their head to see the fucking food right there on the floor.

The X-Files frustrated annoyed x files xfiles

I see that she feels like she deserves it, but instead of acting like the martyr she feels like, she acts tough. A very dirty pet peeve of mine, characters saying one thing, acting another, and throwing up conniption-shits because things don't go their way. She cries that she doesn't want to be a murderer and take life, but when she chooses life over execution, she doesn't put two and two together that if she chooses to be trained, she's gonna be fucking trained for war. This got to me soooo much, Jesus H. Christ. She's given TWO OPTIONS, okay? War or death. For whatever FUCKING REASON, she only hears "You can die or you can live." She doesn't take in the other well-known facts that any MOTHER FUCKING FUCKTARD WOULD KNOW that if you choose to be trained, you're training for war.

Endemol Beyond tv television angry fight

It just boggles my mind how clueless she was throughout this entire book. Like, did she really not think that she'd have to kill people? Her Mistress even called her a weapon before changing words around to appease her feelings, but shit. Did she just ignore the obvious hints until she couldn't hide from it anymore? That sounds too much like cowardice, and I know she's not a coward, so what the fuck?

Aside from Nym, Eogan was a hot commodity, though at times I felt like his pushover tendencies were mostly for Nym's sake, to pacify whatever eureka moment she was having every time reality slapped her in the face. I loved the siblings Breck and Colin, and they're possibly my favorite pair in this book, seeing as I wasn't completely sold on the romance.

And since I'm being so honest, I'm pretty sure Breck and Colin's FUCKING DEATHS were the reasons I really flipped out about Nym's annoyance. It was majorly emotional finding out Breck died alone, wondering how poor Colin was going to react to his precious sister's death, and then seeing him DIE TO PROTECT NYM-! I was devastated, happy he'd be with his sister, sad that he was gone and bleeding on the floor. She and her situation just annoyed me to no end that when the few good things I loved DIED, I just-

Braving The Elements (Darkness 2)

Sasha has always known she was different, but now she also knows that the shadow men she's seen all her life, are real. With a life goal of fitting in, Sasha hopes her strange abilities will finally make true friendship a possibility. Unfortunately, her magic doesn't function like everyone else's. What she thought would make her belong, sets her apart now more than ever.

Stefan, all but promised to a different woman, has tried to keep his mind on his duties instead of the irresistible and free-spirited human. But when she is threatened, he can't keep his distance anymore. He realizes he'll stop at nothing to keep her safe, and more importantly, make her his.

Just when one thing clicks into place, another spirals out of control. Stefan's clan isn't the only group that would benefit from an extremely rare type of magic. And their enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Braving the Elements is the second novella in K.F. Breene's long awaited Darkness series. Sasha's story is one of discovery, awareness, and understanding, and is jam packed with action, humor, sexual tension, and an overwhelming desire for final acceptance.

Dude, this is one of my favorites because after being noticed by the Boss, she gets forced to stay at their mansion to learn how to better control her abilities. I know, hard life, right? They want to keep her under wraps to assure that the other forces don't get their hands on her, but after what Stefan did, we all know it goes beyond her being a mere weapon for their side. Boss likes her. As in, likes likes her.

But he can't, because he needs an heir and Darla is the best they've got. *shudders* Rest assured that he doesn't want anything to do with her, but for the sake of his clan, he'll knock her up. ANYWAY, moving on to stuff I actually wanna linger on.

Sasha's finally found a world to fit in with, but not only is she abnormal to their people, she's a possible threat to everything they believe in. A lowlife human with the myth power color, black? Unheard of. And yet it's what she and Stefan saw when she was first attacked. Stefan wants to train her to be better than she is so she doesn't hurt herself, but with her constantly battling for control of her life, it makes his job harder. I mean, what alpha wants to be questioned in front of his own people?

The two grow closer and closer as she learns more about herself, and with the close contact, it's nearly impossible to ignore the physical attraction. The physical pull. That need to be together.

Ash vs Evil Dead tv show smiling starz grin

Sasha and Stefan are one of my favorite couples of all time because he's this strong, scary guy that's intrigued by a woman not all that confident in her self-worth. She's been abandoned and left alone most of her life, but with Stefan at the mansion, despite the current situation, she feels the appreciation. The yearning. The... love? He makes her want to be a better person, and the best thing about this is that he doesn't see someone who could use some improvement; he sees a strong woman who endured a journey through hell and back and still maintained her good heart.

Just like the first book, this one had a lot of funny moments because of Charles, Sasha's appointed bodyguard (see babysitter) and fellow classmate. His looks are late twenties/early thirties, but according to their race, he's barely growing out of the tender, horny age of sixteen. Because of this, he's got the comedic mentality of a teenager who thinks with two heads. Sasha's self-confidence makes her prickly and defensive, so he balances her out with his outrageous train of thoughts, ridiculous banter and cute moments of pure adorableness.

He definitely keeps everything from getting too serious, and he is certainly well loved and respected despite his constant scoldings lol. Stefan brought on the sexy, making this story fun because of the contrasts Sasha has to deal with, fighting and laughing, wanting and moving on. With her boyfriend dumping her and her own place burnt down, how else is she supposed to feel? But she gets out of her funk, quickly realizing that she's got it pretty much made with these hot, loyal warriors and their Boss willing to keep her under his thumb.

If only he'd admit to wanting her under him.

The writing was fast paced and full of sass, hilarity and authority, rarely depending on the POV at the time. I loved how I got sucked into this thing, immediately envisioning the forest, the outskirts of town, the mansion, and the race of tall-ass models walking around ready to divide and plunder. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves romantic comedies with a hot, kinky twist of what this race stands for. It's all sex, laughter and battles with these people.

Into The Darkness (Darkness 1)

Sasha has grown up with one surety: she's not normal.

She sees things in the darkness that no one else can see. Mysterious men cloaked in shadow, moving through the night. The problem is, pointing out invisible people is a fast track to a padded cell. Orphaned at age five, Sasha quickly learns an important survival tip: keep her mouth shut and stay out of the spotlight.

Until one night, everything changes. She and her boyfriend, Jared, find themselves stranded on the wrong side of town. Suddenly, the men she was convinced were hallucinations, are very real. And very dangerous.

As a new world opens up around her, she meets him. The Boss. An alpha leader who entrances her mind and tugs on her body. Primal and sexual, his people have a different set of rules. And they don't always play nice.

As danger rises up around her, her differences may be the only thing that saves her life. She must embrace what she's tried so hard to hide, while resisting the person her body craves most. Sasha has finally found her shadow men, and they will change her life forever.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine fox excited yes brooklyn nine nine

So I wrote a non-spoiler on Goodreads nearly two years ago if you wanna check that out, otherwise enjoy the spoiled review lol because I've got to say, this thing was ridiculous and I don't know how I had a life without knowing it.

Sasha's been seeing the shadow men for as long as she can remember. When they start showing up again, it freaks her out, threatening to destroy every normal thing she's worked so hard to put together in her makeshift world: a loving boyfriend, her own apartment, and best of all, a life with no one telling her she's crazy.

The plot was pretty good: woman with special powers dragged into the middle of a brewing war between a race of six-feet-plus shadow warriors, all beautiful beyond compare with a culture of sex and violence.

tv the office jim shivers

I DIED because her and Jared's first meeting with two shadow men, one of them to later be her best friend and companion in this series (I LOVE YOU CHARLES), was both shocking and unique. The men were patrolling when they found Sasha them so of course, they wanted a quickie before heading back to work. Jared got fucked up the ass and loved every wanton second of it. I certainly haven't read about any tall shadows oozing pheromones to get it on, yet, but- WOW! Slightly frightening, and yet I'm extremely turned on.

And come on, that scene is going to stick with me for the rest of my life. She meets two strangers looking to get off, and her boyfriend practically drools over one of the guys' dicks? Pheromones, man. And God, did he go to town on that guy's-

ashton kutcher ashton horny boner kutcher

And in Charles' defense, humans always feel better and more confident with themselves (after their minds are wiped. Gotta be discreet sshh). Of course not all experiences end so smoothly, and that is only because those other shadow dudes and dudettes, the ones who have sex regardless of the humans' preferences, are dildos who get off on the fear and confusion.

Just like how there are good and bad humans, there are bad and morally-decrepit immortals. I could go on and debate about this shit (maybe I will later) but all in all, the shadow men are a warrior people with an incredibly open look on sex. They also come from a culture who see the humans as trigger-happy weaklings just a step above animals. While degrading for many humans in here, not all are seen so awful.

The inspiration for that small rant was in the very beginning of the story, so I was extremely shocked at the gritty sex just there. I fucking loved it. I understand a few wouldn't like it, though, because any type of sex without spoken and mental consent is always a touchy subject, but for me personally, coming from the perspective of a severely horny and open-minded submissive, this series is totally for me. My muse. My everything. XD It's not every day that you find a series to forever love, and this is definitely it for me.

Love not yet love, insane amounts of attraction, hilarity, adorable moments, gritty-gritty goodness, and full-on entertainment.

Sasha was a smart mouth, and not without reason. When she was five, she lost her family in a horrible car accident only she survived. From there, barely decent and not-so-kind fosters took care of her until she was old enough to live on her own. So the girl's had to do a lot of depending on herself, barely knowing what it means to belong or feel safe, not with her ability to see the shadows no one else does. That's why when clan leader Stefan comes, intrigued by the human not afraid of him but aroused, things get complicated. He feels the attraction, but with his clan to look out for, he can't afford to play with some human, a habit he doesn't abide by to begin with, let alone with his own people. He needs a good candidate for a mate, to carry on his bloodline and assure his people's safety and survival. And unfortunately for this not-yet couple, he's already got a candidate pining for more than the blood in his dick.

what confused wut attitude rosie perez
One of my favorite parts about this was stumbling into another world, with a bunch of people that she could be herself around. Despite being different even to them, it still allowed her that little freedom that she couldn't have with Jared and the rest of the human world. A lot of stuff happens to her, and although some were sad, I'm still more than glad it worked out the way it did. It was for the better, in all obvious honesty. Now she gets the chance to have a life that not many people dream about!

Most of this was Sasha struggling with the fact that a hidden world has been next to her all this time, and for Stefan, just admitting that a human is good for anything is his life lesson. Because both their lives change, and if Sasha doesn't get her shit together and go with the sudden abilities she has, Stefan won't be her only problem.

THIS IS A HIGH RECOMMENDATION. I've never giggled- giggle now, not laugh -so hard with an equally arousing novel. It was somehow light yet heady with the fantasy. I'd caution those who get offended easily, but then again, if you're one of those people, I feel like you wouldn't have made it so far down this review. I mean, I did swear and all that good shit, you know? But regardless, if you're not into any of the details I mentioned earlier, I doubt you'd like the rest of the things I didn't add in. The same goes for ya'll closed-minded people. So before I finish...

The Fate (The Children of Wisdom 1)

The thread of life is a delicate thing. It is so easily broken...

My name is Penn, and I'm a spinner. As one of the three Fates, it's easy for me to know the plans for the lives of the humans. Mine, on the other hand, is a bit foggier. I guess things started to get out of control when I spun her - Kismet. My focus shifted, one thing led to another, and I wound up banished to Earth.

You'd think it'd be pretty hard to surprise me, but after my banishment, they just kept hitting me like a one-two knockout punch. When the people around me started dying before their time, I knew something was very wrong and I had to do whatever I could to set it right. The one thing i didn't know was... what is the true fate of Fate?

Penn was very fresh with a hot as hell exterior. Those blonde curls... those piercing blues... and that bod! Just kidding. Yeah, he's hot, but I absolutely loved the way he, as a heavenly being, had to struggle with the feelings and indecision that overcome humans every waking day... aaand the advances of the human female population whenever he ventured too close. LOL! Poor thing was sweet as candy but one come-hither look, and he broke out in hives. I loved it.

This was a new way to look at heaven and the Fates, the trio who continuously work to create life and maintain the balance on earth. When I first read this, it introduced me to a beautiful, serene world of heaven with the cast of workers meant to create, maintain and bring back the souls in the human world. Penn's working progress with Kismet and Andrew made me become a little obsessive myself. It also added another bit of information on soulmates for my categorizing, because who doesn't love to hear about stories where everyone has someone to love?

I was so satisfied with this whole thing! It took on a narrative feel while maintaining the legitimate one of Penn's personal thoughts and experiences. I was immediately interested in the thought of one of the Fates falling for their own creations, but what do you do when you fall for one you already made a soul mate for??? It's total doom for Penn, but at the same time, I didn't want him to forget about her. His feelings- obsession? -was just too intensely cute to just... go away.

His punishment was a blessing in disguise in my opinion, but when the entirety of the plot unfolded, I was flabbergasted.

sad crying cry tobey maguire tear

How could it come to that? It was so heartbreaking!!! I can't believe that was a part of Penn's fate, but at the same time, it's not over. Of course I can't move on because there's no book two and it ended on a cliffhanger!!! but at the same time, I can't help but love the teasing for The Reaper. I'm a mess. T_T

The Fate was a beautifully written book that took on a flavor of a fairy tale narrator at times, taking over for Penn when things bigger than him came to pass. I loved the pace of the book and the way it made me feel, giving off such a chill- nearly nostalgic at times -ambiance that matched very well with the mysticals. I am still reeling over the way things happened, which just shows how good of a book this is and I highly recommend it.

Death Loves Me Not

16-year-old Eden Velasco is haunted - by a girl with a face-splitting smile, by one who likes to hang on to her window sills at night, and by another who chokes on her own ashes. Sometimes, Eden wonders if it's just better to bite her wrist and bleed herself to death.

Eden has tried hard to fake being normal, recording episodes of MTV reality shows that she never watches and covering her walls with posters of boy bands she can't even name. And she can't see ghosts. She can't. Yet everything Eden's worked hard for starts to unravel when a dead little girl with paper eyes starts stalking her, leaving dead bodies in her wake.

And before Eden knows it, the men in white have straitjacketed her back to the cold place. St. Dymphna's Institute of Mental Illnesses and Disorders is a place where it is winter all year long without the snow, where ghosts come and go and every one of them is not right.

As the lines between reality and blood-stained dreams continue to blur, Eden finds herself playing Pied Piper to bitter spirits who blame her for their murders. Demanding vengeance that Eden feels she's incapable of giving, they come after her day and night until Eden's pushed to the brink of truly losing her sanity, abandoning her soul, and becoming what everyone once accused her of being: a child of the Devil.

This thing is fucking creepy. I'm so disturbed and a little scared yet filled with baffling curiosity and intrigue. First thing's first: whatever the flavor of this book, it went up and beyond in freaking me the fuck out with all the ghosts and demons in here. The descriptions were too dead on, and can I say, OMfrickinG on giving all the ghosts back stories. I find it morbidly adorable to have all the dead people she comes across with these creative, sometimes elaborate horror stories that didn't at all add to the plot but gave a lot to the character as a 16-year-old young lady just trying to fucking survive high school without all this other necro-bullshit.

community oh snap you go girl

Favorite thing of all, man.

Normally I don't like stories that have nothing to do with the plot, but this, this I loved. I believe it helped that Eden was an oddly morbid yet optimistic person to begin with. How do I put it? She was dark with her thoughts and a little too friendly with the thought of death and suicide, but at the same time, despite that emo shit being her 'normal', she was still a bright spirit with a good heart and overall positive attitude. Not so positive when it came to her personally, but with her loved ones, you can bet she went up and up.

That's another thing. How can someone so familiar with death be so strong? Throughout the book she was a frightened girl just wanting some peace, but like her bff Will pointed out, she faced her fears every day. She wasn't a coward for being afraid, it was the 'shitting bricks but still doing it' routine that earned her brownie points in my book.

The plot was a very surprising twist that unfolded nicely. It kept me in suspense without taking away too many things. A few things, however, left me a little wanting.

Death Loves Me Not evolves entirely around Eden and her messed up situation of not being able to stand up to the ghosts that haunt and the demons that taunt. Majority of her life, she's been treated like a child of the Devil. I low key wanted her to just go off on the losers that mistreated her BUT that wouldn't be very Christian of me her to want such a thing.

*But you're not Ch-*

GOOD FOR YOU Eden, on not giving in to temptation. Could've easily had all those dumb bitches disappear, but you didn't. She had a great support system that weren't her parents but rather a set of twins with their own woo-woo problems: Willow aka Will and Stuart aka Stud, beautiful people inside and out with bright blonde hair, brighter blue eyes, and blood with generations' worth of anticipated vengeance dating back to the Salem witch trials. They understand what she's going through, and with their help, Eden's able to have a somewhat normal teenage experience.

The romance...

I get that the book was centered more on her finding a way to put the ghosts back to rest again, but when a love interest popped up suddenly, I was a little miffed. It's not the appearance that bothers me (come on, Stud's the only guy in her damn life, how are they not gonna fall?) so much as the way it came up that makes me wonder if this could've been handled better.

On one hand it's obvious that Stud and Eden could be a thing, but when she just had this EPIPHANY that he loved her, I was annoyed. Where does it show it, Eden? Are you just now figuring it out or what? And then for Stud to get all boyfriend jelly because she knows but doesn't do anything about it also made me want to choke him. He went from supportive bff to a jaded lover.

Keep your shit together, kiddies! You're fucking up what romance is found in here. And I know I'm not crazy because to be honest, I enjoyed her time with Liam, and Will's time with Hades more. You know, cause it made sense. Dude wants a double date and they make it happen. With Eden and Stud, it was more like an assumed thing but we don't get to see it come about. I feel like it's details that are missing because things get bridged for other things, why not this one? I think I'm just bummed that there was a cute jealously thing going on and I didn't get to enjoy it because the romance came out of nowhere. There's only so much nonsense I can take and context I can read into before it gets a little draining.

Aside from the romance, I also wanted to see more from the demon with a hard-on for Eden (I'm a bit confused, was it the bad guy or another demon???) and the asylum that made her nuts. There was a great deal of teasing from when she first got checked in, but when she went back a second time, I got a lot of mental flashbacks and not enough action in the present time. The only other problem I could think of were the edits and grammar, but I give her kudos considering that this was an earlier work and English isn't her first language (right, Marian? I'm assuming you're reading this). She's vastly improved and grown as an author in comparison to her latest works, like Pollyanna and The Greek Billionaire.

Anyone who thinks otherwise and

In conclusion of rant and review, this was an entertaining read when the edits didn't trip me up or the romance didn't confuse me. The fucking creepy little ass Gemmaline was just too much for a read in the dark-

Degrees of Control

Charlie and James have nothing in common... except a particular interest in a certain type of sex. Even though their chemistry is so hot it could burn a house down, neither of them is foolish enough to mistake their physical connection for love. Right? Watch what happens when you mix a masochistic yoga teacher, a domineering male model, and one night of uninhibited fun in Eve Dangerfield's new romance novel, Degrees of Control.

Seeking satisfaction...

Charlie Bell is your typical yoga teacher. She's friendly, earnest and has some slight masochistic tendencies. After a painful break-up she's determined to address her long-denied kinks and her friends have just the man for the job.

James Hunter is a model turned corporate suit. It's a boring gig but strings-free screwing has always been his preferred form of entertainment. After a "chance" encounter at a party, James agrees to school Charlie in the harsher side of sex. He knows she's too sincere for a guy like him but he can't resist a starry-eyed submissive like her. But what begins as a casual encounter soon becomes a connection that runs deeper than Charlie and James could have ever imagined.

*****STARS: 5*****

Before reading this, I read the synopsis and was like-

I've read a few submissive/dominating novels, but this one easily beats out the majority. I don't know what it is with Degrees of Control. Maybe it's because I could relate to a lot of things Charlie wanted or needed, so it was nice to see her get a guy who got her. Maybe it's that I had an easier time projecting all my own fantasies. *snorts* Maybe it's her awesome best friends (fucking LOVE you, Hayley) who are everything: supportive, hilarious, raw with the truth, strong with their opinions, and DTLHGF-

*'Down To Let Her Get Fuuuuuucked'.
I reckon not many friends actually try to seek out man whores for theirs lol.*

Or maybe it's the fact that James Hunter is one fucking fine ass specimen who should be locked away in my closet for the sake and safety of mankind.

Whatever the reason, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS LIKE HOLY SHIT. Charlie's just this chill yoga teacher who's had it bad in the realm of love. Instead of a fairy tail journey with a prince to the land of dreams, this Aussie gets a jealous asshole whom she later leaves and ends up with a bad roommate in the shady parts of Minneapolis. And a severely overlooked kitty cat in dire need for some petting.

Who better to help her with this problem than her beautiful best friends, the greatest women in the world? (Love them, by the way. Did I mention that already?) She has the spunky and sexually eccentric Hayley, the takes-no-shit Jordan, and the southern-bell-with-brass-balls Sophia. These three set up a small party (HA!) for Charlie to choose the guys Sophia found, and what do you know, she chooses... James Hunter. Hot as Hell corporate aaaaand Sophia's cousin.

I just died when she found out James was her friend's cousin, and how they always referred to him as Sophia's hot cousin for the rest of the book, regardless of poor Sophia's insisting otherwise. James Hunter is, and I'll say it again, one fucking fiiine speeeciimeeeen myy ggooodd. Texas accent, DomTop vibes nearly oozing out of every inch of his succulent body, and I'm pretty sure his fantastic performances in playing out Charlie's fantasies were enough to-

Charlie and James are on totally different planes of existence, one a horny bastard and the other a bonafide vegan trap queen (look it up) and yet they find themselves unable to forget about that fucktastic moment of a night shared on the dance floor and in the bathroom.

Not only did he dominate her, he made her ask for it, even begging for a closer encounter until she- er, well, ended up on the counter. hahaha. This book was just so delicious I had to read it twice! Probably not the smartest thing I could've done in the moment because I promised to review it that night (so sorry *sighs*) but I couldn't help it. I didn't want it to end.

I've read a fair share of sub/Dom romances, but for some reason, this one was reeaaallly especially yummy. Maybe it's because of her 'dark' fantasies brought to life on paper. Maybe it's the way he can be so cruel and yet so sweet afterwards, fulfilling both my her dark and fair needs. Maybe it's fucking Maybelline I don't know, but I do know that reading this devoured me like a lovely nightmare.

There were a few intense moments when shit started to get real. I didn't know how to handle the feels and cried like a bitch teared up a little during a particularly bad moment for one of the characters. :/ The writing was great, and the dialogue was just perfect. Perfect girl talk. Perfect Help-Me pleads. Perfect role playing (yaaaaaaaas). Perfect fights. Perfect that-was-too-close moments. Just perfect. The scenes written also fit the POVs of Charlie and James, making it easier to fall into the story and get swept away by water that's probably not water.

Just saying.

Dangerfield did an amazing job at bringing out the personalities in the characters. I was a little curious about the whys on Charlie's fantasies, since I have a few questions of my own, but I guess the lack of it being approached and looked at isn't so bad, since in the end, it's not what matters. James Fucking Hunter is what matters. JK lol no what matters is that she was fine with her fantasies, and that the person she wanted to be with was fine with it. James gets brownie points for actually playing it to a T at nearly every meet-up. *sighs* I'm so sad you're just a book boyfriend right now.

*You're having a little too much fun with these GIFs lol*

This is a definite recommend for those who love their sexy time dark with role playing and doing it in public areas. Not to mention the characters. Charlie's bffs are possibly the greatest friends I've ever encountered and they made me SMILE so much, even the second time I read it. Simply amazing. The other characters, the jerks and encouragers, despite coming from the peanut gallery, were also pretty cool. They added to the scenes and tension between the lovely couple. I'm also recommending this to those who love romances that don't start out as such sweet moments. Charlie and James have chemistry, but I must say, neither first looked at the other and thought 'love'. They thought some pretty bad words actually haha but it was a lust-first-love-later thing, and I just love those. Their reluctance to make it more just made it all the more entertaining.
